InPlasTwin at Microplastics for Breakfast: Advancing Collaboration on Microplastics Research

The InPlasTwin Project was represented at the Microplastics for Breakfast event by our coordinator, Dr Janja Vidmar, who presented our work on strengthening the scientific and innovation framework for addressing micro- and nanoplastics challenges in Slovenia and beyond. The event gathered 120 participants from research organisations, companies, technology providers, public institutions, policymakers, innovators, educators, and civil society, creating a vibrant platform for inspiring discussions, excellent science, and meaningful collaboration. Among the 21 research pitches presented, a clear message emerged: micro- and nanoplastics are no longer only a research topic, but an increasingly important cross-sector field where science, policy, industry, and society must work together. Discussions covered a wide range of themes, including analytical methods, environmental monitoring, health-related impacts, microbial degradation, digital tools, and innovation pathways, highlighting the dynamic and interdisciplinary nature of the field. One of the most valuable takeaways from the event was the strong emphasis on collaboration, trust, and knowledge exchange between academia, industry, and public institutions an essential foundation for transforming research into real-world solutions.
