The Technical University of Denmark (DTU)

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is a leading technical university at the forefront of academic and multidisciplinary research in engineering and natural sciences. It is renowned for pioneering initiatives across various engineering disciplines, including sustainable energy technologies and life sciences. Within the InPlasTwin project, DTU plays a pivotal role through its specialized departments:

DTU Sustain (Department of Environmental & Resource Engineering): DTU Sustain is one of the largest university departments specializing in environmental and resource engineering in Europe.  The department’s scientists focus on developing innovative, environmentally friendly, and sustainable technologies, methods, and solutions, while actively sharing this knowledge with society and future generations of engineers. DTU Sustain will lead WP3 on knowledge exchange in the generation of micro- and nanoplastics in agriculture, sharing their knowledge and past experiences in the generation of model microplastics, including fragmentation and release under environmentally relevant conditions.

DTU Food (National Food Institute): DTU Food works to prevent disease, promote health, and develop improved food products for a growing global population, while also creating sustainable technological solutions. The institute’s work is characterized by unique interdisciplinary collaboration across fields such as nutrition, chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, epidemiology, modeling, and technology. DTU Food will lead WP6 on knowledge exchange in the analysis of plastic additives based on their expertise in analytical chemistry using advanced mass spectrometry.

Through our active participation in InPlasTwin, DTU aims to foster innovation, advance sustainable practices, and make significant contributions to the field of plastic sustainability.
